Sprockets (Saturday Night Live) - Proposed Film Adaptation

Proposed Film Adaptation

The sketch was to be the basis for a film to be released in 2000, featuring Myers, David Hasselhoff, and Jack Black, but abandoned on May 30, 1999 after Mike Myers became dissatisfied with his own script. Less than a week after Myers informed Universal Studios of his decision, Universal sued Myers for their $3.8 million in pre-production costs.

Famous quotes containing the words proposed, film and/or adaptation:

On the 31st of August, 1846, I left Concord in Massachusetts for Bangor and the backwoods of Maine,... I proposed to make excursions to Mount Ktaadn, the second highest mountain in New England, about thirty miles distant, and to some of the lakes of the Penobscot, either alone or with such company as I might pick up there.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

If you want to tell the untold stories, if you want to give voice to the voiceless, you’ve got to find a language. Which goes for film as well as prose, for documentary as well as autobiography. Use the wrong language, and you’re dumb and blind.
    Salman Rushdie (b. 1948)

Whatever there be of progress in life comes not through adaptation but through daring, through obeying the blind urge.
    Henry Miller (1891–1980)
