Common Sports Injuries
Concussion- caused by severe head trauma where the brain moves violently within the skull so that brain cells all fire at once, much like a seizure
Muscle Cramps- a sudden tight, intense pain caused by a muscle locked in spasm. Muscle cramps are also recognized as an involuntary and forcibly contracted muscle that does not relax
ACL Sprains- The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a ligament involved in knee stabilization. An ACL rupture can occur when the foot is planted and the knee twists to change direction.
Ankle Sprain- The ligaments that hold the ankle bones in place can easily be overstretched.
Shin Splints- The tissue that attaches the muscles of your lower leg to the shin bone may be pulling away from the bone, or it may be inflamed from overuse.

Famous quotes containing the words common, sports and/or injuries:
“The common cormorant or shag
Lays eggs inside a paper bag.”
—Christopher Isherwood (19041986)
“It was so hard to pry this door open, and if I mess up I know the people behind me are going to have it that much harder. Because then theres living proof. They can sit around and say, See? It doesnt work. I dont want to be their living proof.”
—Gayle Gardner, U.S. sports reporter. As quoted in Sports Illustrated, p. 87 (June 17, 1991)
“Men are not only apt to forget the kindnesses and injuries that have been done them, but which is a great deal more, they hate the persons that have obliged them, and lay aside their resentments against those that have used them ill. The trouble of returning favors and revenging wrongs is a slavery, it seems, which they can very hardly submit to.”
—François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (16131680)
