Spindrift (band) - Ghost of The West and The Ghost Town Tour

Ghost of The West and The Ghost Town Tour

In the Summer of 2012, production for the album SPINDRIFT: GHOST OF THE WEST began. The songs were all variations on early golden era singing cowboy tunes. During the mixing, Kirpatrick brought forth the idea that the band should tour Ghost Towns, perform the songs, and document the journey. Booking, filming, and performing during the tour was a difficult process as many of the destinations were unreachable and roads and conditions were hazardous. However, the tour brought them to over 21 different Ghost Towns, including Bodie, California, Tombstone, Arizona, and Deadwood, South Dakota. Many landmarks and monuments were also reached, such as Cathedral Gorge State Park and the Sonoran Desert. The album and film, Directed by Burke Roberts, is slated for a Summer 2013 release.

Famous quotes containing the words ghost, west, town and/or tour:

    Bid a strong ghost stand at the head
    That my Michael may sleep sound,
    Nor cry, not turn in the bed
    Till his morning meal come round;
    And may departing twilight keep
    All dread afar till morning’s back....
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

    The trouble about soldiers in Mr. Siegfried Sassoon’s poetry ... is that they are the kind of people who in a railroad train have to travel with their backs to the engine. Peace can have but few corners softly padded enough for such sensitives.
    —Rebecca West (1892–1983)

    A little instruction in the elements of chartography—a little practice in the use of the compass and the spirit level, a topographical map of the town common, an excursion with a road map—would have given me a fat round earth in place of my paper ghost.
    Mary Antin (1881–1949)

    Left Washington, September 6, on a tour through Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Virginia.... Absent nineteen days. Received every where heartily. The country is again one and united! I am very happy to be able to feel that the course taken has turned out so well.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
