Shishido Baiken - in Fiction

In Fiction

In the manga Vagabond, the original Shishido Baiken was a bandit leader who did use the kusarigama only to be killed by Tsujikaze Kohei, who then took up the name and weapon and became the source for the kusarigama's notoriety. His duel with Musashi would be significant for Musashi's use of both the long and short swords, allowing him to simply strike back with the katana after his wakizashi was ensnared. Kohei/Baiken would be defeated but survived thanks to Musashi's medical assistance.

In the video game Ryƫ ga Gotoku Kenzan! he is an amnesiac Majima Gorohachi, who lost his left eye to an encounter with Sasaki Kojiro and therefore Baiken he wore a tsuba for an eyepatch.

Famous quotes containing the word fiction:

We ignore thriller writers at our peril. Their genre is the political condition. They massage our dreams and magnify our nightmares. If it is true that we always need enemies, then we will always need writers of fiction to encode our fears and fantasies.
    Daniel Easterman (b. 1949)

The good ended happily, and the bad unhappily. That is what Fiction means.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
