Campaigns and Death
After the Grand Assembly, Shi Jin becomes one of the Eight Tiger Cub Vanguard Generals of the Liangshan cavalry. He follows the heroes on their campaigns against the Liao invaders and rebel forces after the outlaws have been granted amnesty by the emperor. He proves himself to be a valiant warrior in battle and makes contributions by defeating several enemies during these campaigns.
During the Fang La campaign, Shi Jin makes a major achievement by slaying the enemy general Shen Gang during the battle of Runzhou. Subsequently, he is assigned to lead the attack on Yuling Pass in Muzhou, which is guarded by Pang Wanchun. Shi Jin is killed by a single arrow fired by Pang Wanchun during the battle. Shi Jin's death is dramatic as it marks the first appearance of Pang Wanchun in the novel, as well as serving as a platform for Pang to display his skill in archery.

Famous quotes containing the words campaigns and/or death:
“That food has always been, and will continue to be, the basis for one of our greater snobbisms does not explain the fact that the attitude toward the food choice of others is becoming more and more heatedly exclusive until it may well turn into one of those forms of bigotry against which gallant little committees are constantly planning campaigns in the cause of justice and decency.”
—Cornelia Otis Skinner (19011979)
“The dignity to be sought in death is the appreciation by others of what one has been in life,... that proceeds from a life well lived and from the acceptance of ones own death as a necessary process of nature.... It is also the recognition that the real event taking place at the end of our life is our death, not the attempts to prevent it.”
—Sherwin B. Nuland (b. 1930)
