Education

There is a school in the village, Sheriff Hutton Primary School, and is within the catchment area of Easingwold School for secondary education.

The village had a school attached to the early Wesleyan chapel which was built in 1855, but no longer in use. In 1873, the wife of the lord of the manor paid for the building of a National School in the village.

Famous quotes containing the word education:

‘Tis well enough for a servant to be bred at an University. But the education is a little too pedantic for a gentleman.
    William Congreve (1670–1729)

It’s fairly obvious that American education is a cultural flop. Americans are not a well-educated people culturally, and their vocational education often has to be learned all over again after they leave school and college. On the other hand, they have open quick minds and if their education has little sharp positive value, it has not the stultifying effects of a more rigid training.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)

Very likely education does not make very much difference.
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)
