The Sharif family (Urdu: شريف خاندان) is a Pakistani political family which has been dominant in the politics of Pakistan for much of Pakistan's political history since independence. They are currently the First Family of Pakistan. Sharif is a Mian tribe settled in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Muhammad Sharif, the father of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, migrated from Jati Umra, Amritsar, after the partition of India. He was a businessman and the founder of the Ittefaq Group in 1939. He established his business in Lahore.
