Scotstoun Primary School

Scotstoun Primary School is a primary school built by Renfrew Landward School Board in 1905 on Earlbank Avenue. The building differs from those built by the Glasgow School Board in many respects, notably in the inclusion of its distinctive towers. The current head teacher is Gillian Mackay.

Scotstoun remained outwith Glasgow city boundaries until 1926, when it was annexed to provide land for Glasgow Corporation's planned new housing estates. There is currently thought to be 364 pupils in the school

Scotstoun Primary is part of the Knightswood New Learning Community.

Famous quotes containing the words primary school, primary and/or school:

Parental attitudes have greater correlation with pupil achievement than material home circumstances or variations in school and classroom organization, instructional materials, and particular teaching practices.
—Children and Their Primary Schools, vol. 1, ch. 3, Central Advisory Council for Education, London (1967)

Anyone who has obeyed nature by transmitting a piece of gossip experiences the explosive relief that accompanies the satisfying of a primary need.
    Primo Levi (1919–1987)

I’m not making light of prayers here, but of so-called school prayer, which bears as much resemblance to real spiritual experience as that freeze-dried astronaut food bears to a nice standing rib roast. From what I remember of praying in school, it was almost an insult to God, a rote exercise in moving your mouth while daydreaming or checking out the cutest boy in the seventh grade that was a far, far cry from soul-searching.
    Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
