Music

Verjnuarmu is a band — the first and only one — playing melodic death metal in the Savo dialect. Described as "combin the very beautiful dialect of Savo with the heavy doomsday music" (yhistää mussiikissaan savon ylen kaaniin murteen raskaaseen tuomijopäevän soetantaan). Jaakko Teppo is a famous Savonian musician and social critic who uses Savonian language in his lyrics.

Famous quotes containing the word music:

    If this be love, to clothe me with dark thoughts,
    Haunting untrodden paths to wail apart;
    My pleasures horror, music tragic notes,
    Tears in mine eyes and sorrow at my heart.
    If this be love, to live a living death,
    Then do I love and draw this weary breath.
    Samuel Daniel (1562–1619)

    How little it takes to make us happy! The sound of a bagpipe.—Without music life would be a mistake. The German even imagines God as singing songs.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

    If mass communications blend together harmoniously, and often unnoticeably, art, politics, religion, and philosophy with commercials, they bring these realms of culture to their common denominator—the commodity form. The music of the soul is also the music of salesmanship. Exchange value, not truth value, counts.
    Herbert Marcuse (1898–1979)
