Saronic Gulf - Sailing in The Saronic Gulf

Sailing in The Saronic Gulf

Sailing is popular in the Saronic Gulf which, like the neighbouring Argolic Gulf, benefits from the Attic mainland's partial shelter from the summer Meltemi wind that can reach Force 7 and above further to the east in the Aegean islands.

The Gulf boasts two particularly notable archaeological sites; the ancient theatre at Epidaurus and nearby asclepieion and the The temple of Aphaia on Aegina.

Famous quotes containing the words sailing and/or gulf:

Theologians should not be ashamed to admit that they cannot enter a contest with such antagonists [the sceptics], and that they do not want to expose the Gospel truths to such an attack. The ship of Jesus Christ is not made for sailing on this stormy sea, but for taking shelter from this tempest in the haven of faith.
    Pierre Bayle (1647–1706)

His father watched him across the gulf of years and pathos which always must divide a father from his son.
    —J.P. (John Phillips)
