Outside The Ring

Peter is a devout Christian who neither drinks nor smokes. He lives in Las Vegas, Nevada

Peter, who is managed by Ivalio Gotsev, is a stablemate to former WBO Heavyweight champion Sergei Liakhovich. Peter was formerly promoted by both Duva Boxing and Don King. Originally trained by Andy "Pops" Anderson, he has since gone on to work with former champion Cornelius Boza Edwards and former Tyson trainer Stacey Mckinnley. He also worked with technical specialist and strategist Manny Masson who exclusively trained Sam Peter for his two decisive victories against James "Lights Out" Toney and Jameel "Big Time" McCline, and Manny Masson was responsible for transforming Samuel Peter's boxing skills for his fights against James Toney and Jameel McCline, making Peter into a complete fighter. Peter is currently promoted by Bob Arum and trained by Abel Sanchez.

Following his split with Duva boxing, Peter had a court case against Don King over a dispute in the purse bid for his title loss to Vitali Klitschko.

Peter recently challenged American Champion Chris Arreola to a bout this year. Claiming that Arreola stole his "nightmare" nickname. Peter said that if the fight went through then the loser would have to change his moniker.

Famous quotes containing the word ring:

I started out very quiet and I beat Mr. Turgenev. Then I trained hard and I beat Mr. de Maupassant. I’ve fought two draws with Mr. Stendhal, and I think I had an edge in the last one. But nobody’s going to get me in any ring with Mr. Tolstoy unless I’m crazy or I keep getting better.
    Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961)
