Personal Life

Born Samuel Levenson, he grew up in a large Jewish immigrant family in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Brooklyn College in 1934. He married Esther Levine (1910–1996) and had two children, Conrad and Emily. Conrad graduated from Columbia University and is an architect living in New York and has four children.
