Rush (Rush Album) - Critical Reception

Critical Reception

Greg Prato of Allmusic stated in his review of Rush that the album was weaker than some of Rush's later albums, such as Hemispheres and Moving Pictures, because Neil Peart was not yet a part of the band. He finished his review by saying that "While longtime Rush fans can appreciate their debut because they never returned to this style, newcomers should stick with their classics from later years."

Famous quotes containing the words critical and/or reception:

The disaster ... is not the money, although the money will be missed. The disaster is the disrespect—this belief that the arts are dispensable, that they’re not critical to a culture’s existence.
    Twyla Tharp (b. 1941)

He’s leaving Germany by special request of the Nazi government. First he sends a dispatch about Danzig and how 10,000 German tourists are pouring into the city every day with butterfly nets in their hands and submachine guns in their knapsacks. They warn him right then. What does he do next? Goes to a reception at von Ribbentropf’s and keeps yelling for gefilte fish!
    Billy Wilder (b. 1906)
