History
The Diocese of Milwaukee was erected November 28, 1843 by Pope Gregory XVI. It was elevated to Archdiocese on February 12, 1875 by Pope Pius IX. The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist is the episcopal see of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
