Roman Candle (firework)

Roman Candle (firework)

Roman candle is a traditional type of firework, that ejects one or more stars or exploding shells.

Roman candles come in a variety of sizes, from small 6 mm (1/4") diameter for consumers, and up to 8 cm (3") diameter in professional fireworks displays.

Roman candles are banned in some countries, like Finland, due to their tendency to cause accidents due to users of the firework not knowing how to use it properly.

Famous quotes containing the words roman and/or candle:

    It is a crime to put a Roman citizen in chains, it is an enormity to flog one, sheer murder to slay one: what, then, shall I say of crucifixion? It is impossible to find the word for such an abomination.
    Marcus Tullius Cicero (106–43 B.C.)

    The yellow pool has overflowed high up on Clooth-na-Bare,
    For the wet winds are blowing out of the clinging air;
    Like heavy flooded waters our bodies and our blood;
    But purer than a tall candle before the Holy Rood
    Is Cathleen, the daughter of Houlihan.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
