Other Artists
Unlike Swan Song Records, Purple Records or Apple Records, the vanity labels of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and The Beatles respectively, Rolling Stones Records never made much of an effort to sign outside artists. Kracker, a Cuban rock group produced by Rolling Stones' producer, Jimmy Miller, was the first outside act to be signed to Rolling Stones Records in 1973. Kracker, along with Billy Preston, opened the show for the Stones during their 1973 European Tour.

Famous quotes containing the word artists:
“As artists theyre rot, but as providers theyre oil wells; they gush. Norris said she never wrote a story unless it was fun to do. I understand Ferber whistles at her typewriter. And there was that poor sucker Flaubert rolling around on his floor for three days looking for the right word.”
—Dorothy Parker (18931967)
“If the man who paints only the tree, or flower, or other surface he sees before him were an artist, the king of artists would be the photographer. It is for the artist to do something beyond this: in portrait painting to put on canvas something more than the face the model wears for that one day; to paint the man, in short, as well as his features.”
—James Mcneill Whistler (18341903)
