Object
Robbers' rummy is played using two standard 52 card decks, and 2 to 6 wildcards (Jokers). Initially, each player is dealt 11 to 13 cards from the shuffled deck, whose remainder, called the stock is placed face-down on the table. The goal of each player is to reduce the number of cards held in hand by placing them on the table, face-up, forming melds. A meld is:
- Either any sequence by rank of three or more cards of the same suit (where the King may be followed by Ace, and 2, and so on),
- Any three or four cards of equal rank, but of distinct suits.
Any one Joker card used within a meld must be identified as one card of appropriate rank and suit.

Famous quotes containing the word object:
“It is a mistake, to think the same thing affects both sight and touch. If the same angle or square, which is the object of touch, be also the object of vision, what should hinder the blind man, at first sight, from knowing it?”
—George Berkeley (16851753)
“I do not object to people looking at their watches when I am speaking. But I strongly object when they start shaking them to make certain they are still going.”
—William Norman, 1st Baron Of Ulverston Birkett (18831962)
“The great object of Education should be commensurate with the object of life. It should be a moral one; to teach self-trust: to inspire the youthful man with an interest in himself; with a curiosity touching his own nature; to acquaint him with the resources of his mind, and to teach him that there is all his strength, and to inflame him with a piety towards the Grand Mind in which he lives. Thus would education conspire with the Divine Providence.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
