In a 2009 Gamasutra article, Scott Miller, head of Apogee Software, mentioned that Rise of the Triad will be getting a contemporary reboot.
On August 2, 2012, gameplay footage of Rise of the Triad was revealed at Quakecon 2012. It was originally set to be released at the fourth quarter of 2012, however release was delayed to early 2013.
