Rent Dispute
In December 2012, Coventry City owners SISU Capital were embroiled in a high-profile dispute with ACL over the rent arrangement. SISU Capital are demanding £200k annual rent for the Ricoh and not the current £1.2 million. SISU claim they are paying the highest rent for a football stadium outside the Premiership. A deadline of 27 December 2012 was given by ACL for unpaid rent. Ater the deadline passed, a winding up order was enforced through the High Court.
Currently SISU are looking at moving to another football stadium as a contingency plan if an agreement with ACL cannot be reached. One of the potential sites for relocation is the former Rushden & Diamonds stadium Nene Park, in Northamptonshire.
