Rhodesian Air Force
The Rhodesian Air Force was never a large air force. In 1965, it consisted of only 1,200 regular personnel. At the peak of its strength during the Bush war, it had a maximum of 2,300 personnel of all races, but of these, only 150 were pilots actively involved in combat operations. These pilots, however, were rotated through the various squadrons partly to maintain their skills on all aircraft and partly to relieve fellow pilots flying more dangerous sorties.

Famous quotes containing the words air and/or force:
“Then, that no region of the universe
Should remain void of life, the floor of heaven
Was peopled with the stars and godlike forms,
The seas became the abode of glittering fish.
Earth took the beasts and mobile air the birds.
A holier animal was wanting.”
—Ovid (Publius Ovidius Naso)
“The difference between a photograph and even the most realistic paintingsay, one of Courbets landscapesis that in the latter there has been selection, emphasis and some discreet distortion. The painters deep instinctive feeling for mass and force has rearranged everything.”
—Gerald Branan (18941987)
