Rear Naked Choke - "Body Lock or Hooks" Variation

"Body Lock or Hooks" Variation

The placement of the legs usually falls into two categories. The first is a body lock. The attacker places one of his legs across the stomach or lower chest of the victim. He then places his other leg over his own shin, creating a figure-four with his legs. This allows him to limit movement and stay close to the back of his victim. This technique was used by Anderson Silva against Dan Henderson and by Jim Miller against Melvin Guillard. The other common technique is known as using "hooks". In this version the attacker places his legs inside of the victim's legs. He then moves his legs out, placing his shin behind the victim's knees, essentially using his shins and feet as hooks to control the victim's legs.

Famous quotes containing the words body, lock and/or hooks:

I had rather munch a crust of brown bread and an onion in a corner, without any more ado or ceremony, than feed upon turkey at another man’s table, where one is fain to sit mincing and chewing his meat an hour together, drink little, be always wiping his fingers and his chops, and never dare to cough nor sneeze, though he has never so much a mind to it, nor do a many things which a body may do freely by one’s self.
    Miguel De Cervantes (1547–1616)

Benjamin: Are you always this much afraid of being alone?
    Mrs. Robinson: Yes.
Benjamin: Well, why can’t you just lock the doors and go to bed?
    Mrs. Robinson: I’m very neurotic.
    Calder Willingham (1923–1995)

Teaching Black Studies, I find that students are quick to label a black person who has grown up in a predominantly white setting and attended similar schools as “not black enough.” ...Our concept of black experience has been too narrow and constricting.
