Playing Style
Keene's playing style tended toward the strategically original and positional. Strongly influenced by Aron Nimzowitsch and Richard RĂ©ti, he accordingly preferred hypermodern openings such as the Modern Defence, Nimzo-Indian Defence and King's Indian Defence.
