Quil Ceda Village is a municipality within the Tulalip Indian Reservation which includes the Quil Ceda Village Business Park, a commercial development constructed and operated by the Tulalip Tribes. The complex contains the tribe's casino, resort hotel, several retailers, and an outlet mall.
In 2001, the Bureau of Indian Affairs approved the Village's status as a municipality and the IRS approved its status as a political subdivision of the Tulalip tribal government under the Indian Tribal Government Tax Status Act of 1982, making it the first tribal political subdivision under this Act in the nation and the only other federal city besides Washington, DC.
The village is chartered by the tribe as a consolidated borough with council-manager government. The village manager is John McCoy (Tulalip), who also serves as the Washington state representative from Tulalip.
