Growth

This section requires expansion.

The alternating layers of the two different semiconductors which form the quantum heterostructure may be grown on to a substrate using a variety of methods such as molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), metalorganic vapour phase epitaxy (MOVPE), or metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD).

Famous quotes containing the word growth:

When I have plucked the rose,
I cannot give it vital growth again,
It needs must wither. I’ll smell it on the tree.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    The Past—the dark unfathom’d retrospect!
The teeming gulf—the sleepers and the shadows!
The past! the infinite greatness of the past!
For what is the present after all but a growth out of the past?
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)

Although its growth may seem to have been slow, it is to be remembered that it is not a shrub, or plant, to shoot up in the summer and wither in the frosts. The Red Cross is a part of us—it has come to stay—and like the sturdy oak, its spreading branches shall yet encompass and shelter the relief of the nation.
    Clara Barton (1821–1912)
