During the Vietnam War it was the site of heavy fighting, including Operation Union I & II. The province was merged back into Quang Nam following the unification of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on July 2, 1976.
Famous quotes containing the words tin and/or province:
“Another one o them new worlds. No beer, no women, no pool parlors, nothing. Nothing to do but throw rocks at tin cans. And we gotta bring our own tin cans.”

“Female Virtues are of a Domestick turn. The Family is the proper Province for Private Women to Shine in. If they must be showing their Zeal for the Publick, let it not be against those who are perhaps of the same Family, or at least of the same Religion or Nation, but against those who are the open, professed, undoubted Enemies of their Faith, Liberty, and Country.”
—Joseph Addison (16721719)
