Prototheria

Prototheria ( /ˌproʊtɵˈθɪəriə/; from Greek πρώτος, prōtos, first, + θήρ, thēr, wild animal) is a taxonomic group, or taxon, to which the order Monotremata belongs. It is conventionally ranked as a subclass within the mammals.
