Princess Flavia is a musical operetta with book and lyrics by Harry B. Smith and music by Sigmund Romberg, based on “The Prisoner of Zenda” by Anthony Hope. It was originally entitled “A Royal Pretender” (see image).
Produced by Lee Shubert and J. J. Shubert, the Broadway production, opened on November 2, 1925 at the Century Theatre and then moved to the Shubert Theatre for a total run of 152 performances. The cast included Douglass R. Dumbrille, John Clarke, Margaret Breen, and Evelyn Herbert and over 130 others.
