Stalin was not directly involved with the popular front. He was actually reluctant in helping Spain. But his views and ways of opposition is what led to popular fronts being formed. The Popular Front, was a result of both striving in the workers’ movement and of Communist policy which was ultimately determined by the Soviet Union’s foreign policy as directed by Joseph Stalin. The Popular Front stemmed from Stalin, which was to prevent the spread of fascism in the current ruling government.
