The head of state and head of government are separate from the country’s law-making body. President is the head of the state and head of executive branch. The people elect the president; the prime minister is appointed by the President and confirmed by the National Assembly of Azerbaijan. The President appoints all cabinet-level government administrators (ministers, heads of other central executive bodies).
Since 2008, the Constitution of Azerbaijan was amended, abolishing any term limit for the office of President.

Famous quotes containing the words executive and/or branch:
“She isnt harassed. Shes busy, and its glamorous to be busy. Indeed, the image of the on- the-go working mother is very like the glamorous image of the busy top executive. The scarcity of the working mothers time seems like the scarcity of the top executives time.... The analogy between the busy working mother and the busy top executive obscures the wage gap between them at work, and their different amounts of backstage support at home.”
—Arlie Hochschild (20th century)
“When I am finishing a picture I hold some God-made object up to ita rock, a flower, the branch of a tree or my handas a kind of final test. If the painting stands up beside a thing man cannot make, the painting is authentic. If theres a clash between the two, it is bad art.”
—Marc Chagall (18891985)
