Pointe du Hoc now has a memorial and museum dedicated to the battle. Many of the original fortifications have been left in place. The site is speckled with a number of bomb craters. On Jan, 11 1979, ownership of this 13-hectare field was donated to the federal government of the United States, which made the American Battle Monuments Commission responsible for its maintenance.
