Physician Assistant - Title Change

Title Change

There is a movement within the field to change the profession's title to "physician associate." This is similar to the title of physician's associate that was used in the early 1970s. The name change movement was supported by a recent poll of AAPA members showing a significant number(a majority in many states) support name change. The poll was conducted by the AAPA after a request from 100 prominent PA's and a write in campaign which gathered over 6500 signatures in a few months time. This matter has not been resolved and is an ongoing issue within the profession.
