Peter Bondra - Life and Family

Life and Family

When Bondra was three years old, his father moved with the family back to Czechoslovakia from Lutsk, Ukraine, where he had moved in 1947 in order to seek better work. From 1982, Bondra and his older brothers, Vladimír and Juraj, were raised by their mother Nadežda as their father had died in that year. He was still a Soviet citizen when he arrived in the United States, later obtaining a Slovak passport and citizenship in 1993. Currently, Bondra and his wife Luba, as well as their daughter Petra and two sons, David and Nick, reside in Riva, Maryland. His son David is a forward at Michigan State University for the Spartans Mens Ice Hockey Team. His other son Nick is playing for the Metro Maple Leafs U18 AA.

Famous quotes containing the words life and/or family:

Children became an obsessive theme in Victorian culture at the same time that they were being exploited as never before. As the horrors of life multiplied for some children, the image of childhood was increasingly exalted. Children became the last symbols of purity in a world which was seen as increasingly ugly.
    C. John Sommerville (20th century)

Much that is urged on us new parents is useless, because we didn’t really choose it. It was pushed on us. It—whether it be Raffi videos, French lessons, or the complete works of Brazelton—might be just right for you and your particular child. But it is only right when you feel that it is. You know your family best; you decide.
    Sonia Taitz (20th century)
