Demography
The Pennine region is relatively sparsely populated by English standards. There are some large population centres in the Pennines such as Bradford and Sheffield and a few towns bordering the Peak District, but the rest of the area is only thinly populated. Larger cities such as Leeds and Manchester lie at the foot of the hills.
