Pablo Antonio - Early Life

Early Life

Antonio was born in Binondo, Manila in 1901. He was orphaned by the age of 12, and had to work in the daytime in order to finish his high school education at night. He studied architecture at the Mapua Institute of Technology but dropped out of school in order to assist in the design and construction of the Legislative Building (now, the National Museum of the Philippines).

Ramon Arevalo, the engineer in charge of the Legislative Building project, funded Antonio's education at the University of London. He completed a five-year architecture course in three years, graduating in 1927.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:

I got a little secretarial job after college, but I thought of it as a prelude. Education, work, whatever you did before marriage, was only a prelude to your real life, which was marriage.
    Bonnie Carr (c. early 1930s)

Judgments, value judgments concerning life, whether for or against it, can in the end never be true: their only value is as symptoms, they only come into consideration as symptoms—in themselves such judgments are stupidities. We must reach out and attempt to put our finger on this astonishing finesse, that the value of life cannot be assessed.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)
