Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival - Breast Cancer Survivor Teams

Breast Cancer Survivor Teams

The Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival is proud to offer a breast cancer survivor team category into the race weekend, and holds an annual flower ceremony on the water. This has become an integral part of the festival and a reason why many breast cancer survivor teams have chosen to travel to Ottawa to participate in the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival. Many accompanying family and friends also make the trip to show their support and honour survivors.

Famous quotes containing the words breast, cancer, survivor and/or teams:

So if hunger provokes wailing and wailing brings the breast; if the breast permits sucking and milk suggests its swallow; if swallowing issues in sleep and stomachy comfort, then need, ache, message, object, act, and satisfaction are soon associated like charms on a chain; shortly our wants begin to envision the things which well reduce them, and the organism is finally said to wish.
    William Gass (b. 1924)

The same people who tell us that smoking doesn’t cause cancer are now telling us that advertising cigarettes doesn’t cause smoking.
    Ellen Goodman (b. 1941)

You’re looking, sir, at a very dull survivor of a very gaudy life. Crippled, paralyzed in both legs. Very little I can eat, and my sleep is so near waking that it’s hardly worth the name. I seem to exist largely on heat, like a newborn spider.
    William Faulkner (1897–1962)

A sturdy lad from New Hampshire or Vermont who in turn tries all the professions, who teams it, farms it, peddles, keeps a school, preaches, edits a newspaper, goes to Congress, buys a township, and so forth, in successive years, and always like a cat falls on his feet, is worth a hundred of these city dolls. He walks abreast with his days and feels no shame in not “studying a profession,” for he does not postpone his life, but lives already.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
