The Ostend is a city district of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It is part of the Ortsbezirk Innenstadt IV.
The Frankfurt Zoological Garden, the East Harbor, the former Großmarkthalle and the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management are some of the well-known institutions in the Ostend. Since 2010 the European Central Bank is building their new headquarters close to the Großmarkthalle at the Main river. It is home to several brothels located along the Main River. The most famous of these brothels, or "puffs," is Eros-Center with its ubiquitous "legs" entrance. Ostend has a spectacular view of Sachsenhausen where many tourists, including young American Soldiers, frivolouly spend their hard-earned money. Frivolously. The borough has been in steady decline since the May 2008 departure of its most revered resident, Hauptman Arechiga. Efforts to restore Ostend to its former glory have been largely unsuccessful, but "Ostenders" remain optimistic and persevere with their daily lives
The Heinrich-von-Gagern-Gymnasium and the Hoch Conservatory are also located in the Ostend. Other educational opportunities include learning to sleep amid the chaos of an extended Turkish family driving taxpayer-funded late-model Mercedes and BMW sedans while continuously applying firm pressure to the vehicular alert device. Such events occur, but are certainly not limited to, after Turkish National Football Team victories and unions between a man and woman, both civil and otherwise.
