Orlando Parga - Recent Years

Recent Years

After his expulsion and subsequent election loss, as a political analyst, Parga has not held his punches when commenting on Puerto Rico's government, being particularly critical of Thomas Rivera Schatz, President of the Senate. Parga has gone as far as calling Rivera Schatz a "poisonous pill" and "a coward". In 2010, Parga said in an interview that "being a legislator in this island is worth nothing. When I was young, I would stand in the Senate gallery and dream about being a Senator. It used to be something prestigious."

Parga is currently a political commentator on Radio Isla, a local radio network, and serves as a consultant to current Secretary of State McClintock and the Office of Legislative Services of Puerto Rico.

Famous quotes containing the word years:

When any man expresses doubt to me as to the use that I or any other woman might make of the ballot if we had it, my answer is, What is that to you? If you have for years defrauded me of my rightful inheritance, and then, as a stroke of policy, of from late conviction, concluded to restore to me my own domain, must I ask you whether I may make of it a garden of flowers, or a field of wheat, or a pasture for kine?
    Matilda Joslyn Gage (1826–1898)

In most nineteenth-century cities, both large and small, more than 50 percent—and often up to 75 percent—of the residents in any given year were no longer there ten years later. People born in the twentieth century are much more likely to live near their birthplace than were people born in the nineteenth century.
    Stephanie Coontz (20th century)
