Famous quotes containing the words order of, order and/or minor:

There is no permanent class of hired laborers amongst us. Twenty five years ago, I was a hired laborer. The hired laborer of yesterday, labors on his own account today; and will hire others to labor for him tomorrow. Advancement—improvement in condition—is the order of things in a society of equals.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

In order to like themselves they must reject trivialization by others of who and what they are. A grown woman should not have to masquerade as a girl in order to remain in the land of the living.
    Germaine Greer (b. 1939)

Chopin—Two embalmers at work upon a minor poet ... the scent of tuberoses ... Autumn rain.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)
