Order of Canada - Additional Honours

Additional Honours

At certain periods, holders of the order were presented with other awards, usually commemorative medals. Thus far, one commemorative medal has been given automatically to every living member of the Order of Canada: the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal in 1977.

Famous quotes containing the words additional and/or honours:

    Dog. A kind of additional or subsidiary Deity designed to catch the overflow and surplus of the world’s worship.
    Ambrose Bierce (1842–1914)

    Come hither, all ye empty things,
    Ye bubbles rais’d by breath of Kings;
    Who float upon the tide of state,
    Come hither, and behold your fate.
    Let pride be taught by this rebuke,
    How very mean a thing’s a Duke;
    From all his ill-got honours flung,
    Turn’d to that dirt from whence he sprung.
    Jonathan Swift (1667–1745)
