Demographics
The Opole Voivodeship is the smallest region in the administrative makeup of the country in terms of both area and population. Approximately 10% of the one million inhabitants of this voivodeship are ethnic Germans, which constitutes 70% of all ethnic Germans in Poland. As a result many areas are officially bi-lingual in Opolskie and the German language and culture plays a significant role in education in the region. (See Germans of Poland).
