Open Embedded
OpenEmbedded is a software framework to create Linux distributions aimed for, but not restricted to, embedded devices. The build system is based on BitBake recipes, which behave like Gentoo's ebuilds.
Recipes in the old OpenEmbedded-Classic were all found in one place, in the new OpenEmbedded-Core the structure has changed into meta layers to make it easier to add custom recipes.
OpenEmbedded can be installed and automatically updated via Git.

Famous quotes containing the words open and/or embedded:
“What we know, is a point to what we do not know. Open any recent journal of science, and weigh the problems suggested concerning Light, Heat, Electricity, Magnetism, Physiology, Geology, and judge whether the interest of natural science is likely to be soon exhausted.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“It was your severed image that grew sweeter,
That floated, wing-stiff, focused in the sun
Along uncertainty and gales of shame
Blown out before I slept. Now you are one
I dare not think alive: only a name
That chimes occasionally, as a belief
Long since embedded in the static past.”
—Philip Larkin (19221986)
