Ontario Highway 400 - Services

Services

There are four service centres located along Highway 400: King City, Maple, Cookstown and Barrie. The centres were originally leased to and operated by several major gasoline distributors; however, those companies have chosen not to renew their leases as the terms end. In response, the MTO put the operation of the full network of service centres out for tender, resulting in a 50-year lease with Host Kilmer Service Centres, a joint venture between hospitality company HMSHost (a subsidiary of Autogrill) and Larry Tanenbaum's investment company Kilmer van Nostrand.

Three of the four service centres will be upgraded and will feature a Canadian Tire gas station, an HMSHost-operated convenience store known as "The Market", as well as fast food brands such as Tim Hortons, A&W and Burger King. The Vaughan service centre is not included in these plans. The Barrie centre closed for reconstruction on October 19, 2010. The King City service centre was closed in December 2011 and relocated in July 2012. It reopened October 5, 2012. The Cookstown centre is slated for redevelopment in 2013.

Service centres are located at the following points along Highway 400:

Innisfil Cookstown 75 Southbound Renovations to begin in 2013

Famous quotes containing the word services:

Working women today are trying to achieve in the work world what men have achieved all along—but men have always had the help of a woman at home who took care of all the other details of living! Today the working woman is also that woman at home, and without support services in the workplace and a respect for the work women do within and outside the home, the attempt to do both is taking its toll—on women, on men, and on our children.
    Jeanne Elium (20th century)

Those services which the community will most readily pay for, it is most disagreeable to render.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The community and family networks which helped sustain earlier generations have become scarcer for growing numbers of young parents. Those who lack links to these traditional sources of support are hard-pressed to find other resources, given the emphasis in our society on providing treatment services, rather than preventive services and support for health maintenance and well-being.
    Bernice Weissbourd (20th century)
