Onslow College - Uniform Policy

Uniform Policy

Onslow College is one of only three Colleges within the Wellington Region that has no officially enforced dress code. The uniform code was removed in protest of the students during the late 60's and early 70's. Uniforms were seen by the students as a waste of their teachers time and was slowly but eventually removed in stages; with the gloves and hats being the first to be removed. A school-wide student strike was the major turning point in the removal of the uniform, an event which attributed to the colleges individuality and its unique 'Onslow Way'.

Famous quotes containing the words uniform and/or policy:

    The maples
Stood uniform in buckets, and the steam
Of sap and snow rolled off the sugarhouse.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

The Oregon [matter] and the annexation of Texas are now all- important to the security and future peace and prosperity of our union, and I hope there are a sufficient number of pure American democrats to carry into effect the annexation of Texas and [extension of] our laws over Oregon. No temporizing policy or all is lost.
    Andrew Jackson (1767–1845)
