One More Chance (Madonna Song) - Background

Background

In March 1996 Madonna released this single from the album internationally, after the previous hit "You'll See" and the re-release of "Oh Father" in some European markets. In the United States the follow-up to "You'll See", and final single from Something to Remember, was a remix of "Love Don't Live Here Anymore". But in Japan, the United Kingdom and a few other European countries "One More Chance" was released as the final single. In Australia and New Zealand, both "One More Chance" and "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" were released as singles.

In an interview with Spin, Madonna said that the song was inspired by a happy moment in her life, when she gave a chance to a man she knew, and he was able to fulfill it to her needs. She reversed the situation and wrote the song. Madonna explained, "Often in my songwriting, I take things people say to me and turn them around, and put it in the first person. So it's actually something that was said to me."

Famous quotes containing the word background:

Silence is the universal refuge, the sequel to all dull discourses and all foolish acts, a balm to our every chagrin, as welcome after satiety as after disappointment; that background which the painter may not daub, be he master or bungler, and which, however awkward a figure we may have made in the foreground, remains ever our inviolable asylum, where no indignity can assail, no personality can disturb us.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

... every experience in life enriches one’s background and should teach valuable lessons.
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)

In the true sense one’s native land, with its background of tradition, early impressions, reminiscences and other things dear to one, is not enough to make sensitive human beings feel at home.
    Emma Goldman (1869–1940)
