The Scroll Exhibition
The original scroll of On The Road still exists. It was bought in 2001 by Jim Irsay (Indianapolis Colts football team owner) for US$2.43 million. It is available for public viewing, with the first 30 feet (9 m) unrolled. Between 2004 and 2012, the scroll was displayed in a number of museums and libraries in the United States, Ireland, and the UK.

Famous quotes containing the words scroll and/or exhibition:
“I am the scroll of the poet behind which samurai swords are being sharpened.”
—Lester Cole, U.S. screenwriter, Nathaniel Curtis, and Frank Lloyd. Prince Tatsugi (Frank Puglia)
“The hardiest skeptic who has seen a horse broken, a pointer trained, or has visited a menagerie or the exhibition of the Industrious Fleas, will not deny the validity of education. A boy, says Plato, is the most vicious of all beasts; and in the same spirit the old English poet Gascoigne says, A boy is better unborn than untaught.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
