Public Law Obligations
Like other public authorities, ORR must comply with the rules of administrative law, and is amenable to judicial review, so it must act lawfully, rationally, proportionately and in accordance with the relevant rules of procedure. Although operationally independent of central government as a non-ministerial government department, it is still covered by legislation such as the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Famous quotes containing the words public, law and/or obligations:
“A great deal of unnecessary worry is indulged in by theatregoers trying to understand what Bernard Shaw means. They are not satisfied to listen to a pleasantly written scene in which three or four clever people say clever things, but they need to purse their lips and scowl a little and debate as to whether Shaw meant the lines to be an attack on monogamy as an institution or a plea for manual training in the public school system.”
—Robert Benchley (18891945)
“The shallow consider liberty a release from all law, from every constraint. The wise man sees in it, on the contrary, the potent Law of Laws.”
—Walt Whitman (18191892)
“So that if you would form a just judgment of what is of infinite importance to you not to be misled in,namely, in what degree of real merit you stand ... call in religion and morality.Look,What is written in the law of God?How readest thou?Consult calm reason and the unchangeable obligations of justice and truth;Mwhat say they?”
—Laurence Sterne (17131768)
