Gunray is a Neimoidian, an amphibian-faced humanoid with snake-like eyes, and an enemy of the Galactic Republic. In Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Gunray and his organization, the Trade Federation, appear to be the movie's primary villains, but it is made clear early on to the audience that the real antagonist is the Sith Lord Darth Sidious (Ian McDiarmid).
