Nubar Gulbenkian - Will

Will

Controversy continued to follow him after his death due to the vague nature of his father's will, which appeared to suggest that everybody Nubar was employed by or stayed with during his life should receive some money (See Re Gulbenkian's Settlements AC 553). The case was eventually taken to the House of Lords before settlement.

Famous quotes containing the word will:

    and the Soul endure
A silence that is neither for nor against her faith
That God’s Will will be done, that, in spite of her prayers,
God will cheat no one, not even the world of its triumph.
    —W.H. (Wystan Hugh)

The question for the country now is how to secure a more equal distribution of property among the people. There can be no republican institutions with vast masses of property permanently in a few hands, and large masses of voters without property.... Let no man get by inheritance, or by will, more than will produce at four per cent interest an income ... of fifteen thousand dollars] per year, or an estate of five hundred thousand dollars.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

Take but degree away, untune that string,
    And hark what discord follows!
    ...
Force should be right, or, rather, right and wrong—
Between whose endless jar justice resides—
Should lose their names, and so should justice too.
Then everything includes itself in power,
    Power into will, will into appetite;
    And appetite, an universal wolf,
So doubly seconded with will and power,
Must make perforce an universal prey,
    And last eat up himself.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
