The BBC reports that in some department stores in Pyongyang, the North Korean won is not accepted; and the stores only take Japanese yen and U.S. dollars.

As of November 1, 2012 stores in North Korea take Euros, US Dollars, and Chinese RMB. RMB and Euro are the dominant currencies with 10 RMB equalling 1 Euro.
