Why NHCC?
Quality Programs
The education provided at NHCC rivals the most prestigious higher learning institutions even though the cost of tuition is less than private two-year colleges and four-year universities. NHCC is regionally accredited, so credits transfer easily into most bachelor's degree programs. Students can also earn select bachelor's degrees on NHCC's campus through partnering universities. NHCC also offers short-term, non-credit customized training programs for businesses and their employees.
Low Tuition Cost and Financial Aid Assistance
NHCC offers one of the lowest tuition rates in the state and also awards more than $30 million in financial aid to students each year in the form of grants, scholarships, work-study opportunities and loans. The NHCC Foundation has also awarded more than $2 million in student scholarships. Tuition is less expensive at NHCC than at private colleges and four-year public universities – while having equivalent quality and value. In addition, the benefits of small class sizes and individual attention and support at two-year colleges often far exceed that of four-year schools.
Flexible Scheduling
Flexible scheduling makes it possible for students to earn a degree while balancing work and family responsibilities. Classes are offered in the mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. Students may also choose to take courses in online, hybrid, accelerated, and off-campus sections.
Helpful Faculty, Staff, and Resources
NHCC faculty are highly credentialed, with years of industry experience and a passion for teaching. They get to know students by name and truly care about your academic success. Counselors and advisors also provide students with resources to help them succeed with their educational, career, financial, leadership and personal goals. These resources include the free tutoring, career planning, college prep classes, advising for English for speakers of other languages, disability access services, veterans resources and access to computer labs.
Modern Campus and Facilities
Located on a beautiful 120-acre campus close to Minneapolis, NHCC is one of the largest, most diverse community colleges in the state. It features state-of-the-art facilities, including a recently expanded Center for Business and Technology that provides the latest in multimedia technology, lab equipment and a student-centered learning environment.
Expand Your Horizons
There are many opportunities to get involved, such as student clubs and organizations, rec sports, and performing and visual arts. There are also service learning projects and study abroad options. Plus, NHCC is one of the few community colleges in the country that offers undergraduate research opportunities in biology, chemistry, and geology.
Improve Transferability
While transfer between institutions has gotten easier, transferring with a completed associates degree is the best way to eliminate variances that students may experience when transferring without a degree.
Successful Employment after Graduation / Job Placement Rates
Students at NHCC can find assistance with exploring careers, refining job search techniques, and learning about available employment opportunities by using our Career Resource Center. Many graduates successfully find employment after completing their studies at NHCC .
